CrossFit Powering its Way to the Mainstream

Anyone involved in the CrossFit community knows the power of CrossFit.  Ones fitness level and health can be drastically changed for the better and as a bonus you join a great community of people who understand and support your new lifestyle.  It’s no surprise that people outside of CrossFit were going to take notice once Reebok became the main sponsor for the 2011 CrossFit Games and the prize money for the top male and female grew from $25,000 to $250,000.

The CrossFit Games season started back in March and consisted of six workouts stretching over a six week period.  The top ranked individuals and teams moved onto the Regional events.  The 17 Regional events were located worldwide and the top three men, women and teams advanced to the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games three day competition, which was held at the end of July at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles, California.  Though the event was held in the same venue as the 2010 Games, there were some notable changes, for example, ESPN coverage, a Reebok store, Sky Cams and Camera booms, just to list a few.

I had the opportunity to cover the season from the start and probably captured 100,000 images along the way,  so it was great to see a CrossFit athlete and founder of CrossFit Endurance, make the cover of Competitor Magazine.
